Every digital/electronic pinball machine has batteries that store the programmable memory functions of the game when the game is powered off and unplugged from the wall outlet. Many games use regular AA batteries and some use ni-cad or lithium batteries that are soldered directly to a circuit board. On many service calls we find that these batteries have leaked acid and have destroyed the circuit boards in the game. The batteries need to be changed every two years.
At the very least you should at least inspect it to see if it has started to leak so that the problem can be corrected. Spending a few minutes now could save you hundreds of dollars later! Note that if you change the batteries with the game powered off, you will lose the game settings, audits and high-scores. Batteries can also be changed with the power on so you won’t lose any data, but be careful not to get shocked or blow a fuse shorting something out.
We can do the service for you.
